God can work with nonbelievers. I have found it to be so in recovery programs, as well as church related situations. An example: A guy goes to AA to get sober. He does not believe in any god. So when everyone holds hands at the end of the meeting and prays the Lord's Prayer, he keeps his lips sealed. The Higher Power goes to work. How? A fellow across the room who likewise has no belief, sees this guy not moving his lips, so after the meeting, he goes up t


Loss plus Loss equals Loss
Loss Plus Loss Equals Lost Why do we sometimes lose something as a response to losing something? It seems insane, and it is. Example: someone loses a loved one to death, and the survivor responds by getting drunk or drugged. Not only has the person lost a loved one. They have now lost sobriety. I had found this to be an escape from pain, until it was pointed out to me that loss as a response to loss is not very effective as a solution to anything.
